Project managed by: World Youth International
Country: Kenya
Project Description
In rural Western Kenya, clean water is rare. Many use diseased water from the lake to drink and bathe in, and therefore often contract water-borne diseases. The Odede Community Health Centre must provide its patients with clean water to ensure they can recover and do not get sicker whilst in care. Help the Health Centre to pay for water tanks or have water trucked in to the facility during drought seasons, and also build clean drinking water tanks and filters to turn contaminated water into safe drinking water for thousands of people.
More About This Project
Currently, Odede Community Health Centre has 12 water tanks carrying a total of 80,000L. However, it is expected that another 120,000L is necessary to provide sufficient water to last through dry season.
The Health Centre has an average of 193 patients per month (about 50+ in-patients per month who would directly benefit from the access to clean water, plus all the staff).
